Video Mega Fun!

I did a small painting of a beautiful sunset I saw over the Shawangunk Mountains in New Paltz, NY.  I had some cool techie fun making a time lapse video of the painting!!  You can see the video on Instagram if you search for me, lauriesammonsart.  Or, if you don't have the app, you can see the video here.

Gunk Dreams

11 x 14 Pastel on UArt Sanded Paper
I have been on a bit of a hiatus from my blog.  A little R&R is always good.  Fortunately I still got some art in while I wasn't blogging.  It was easy with beautiful scenery all around me :-)

Swimming Turtle

11 x 14 Pastel on Strathmore Pastel Paper

This is a pastel sketch I did to prepare for a larger version of this turtle, who was photographed by a friend as she was swimming with him in Hawaii!  I hope to show the larger painting in a future post.

Gazing at the Lily Pads

16 x 20 Pastel on Watercolor Paper with Acrylic Ground

This painted turtle was checking out the pond scenery when I saw him at Garden in the Woods, a local sanctuary on 45 acres of incredible paths through gardens and around bogs and ponds. Home to the New England Wild Flower Society, this place is a gem!

I saw this incredible jazz singer, Cecile McLorin Salvant, on a show on Palladium, a cable concert station.  I thought she was really cool so I painted her portrait.
